Henry's Freedom Box

This week we read the story of Henry's Freedom Box by Ellen Levine.  The students were fascinated by this true story so we went further with our curiousity and looked up the dimensions of the box and then "built" it.  (What a great way to introduce our math unit on area and perimeter : o )  Be sure to ask your child what they know about the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman aka "Minty" and Henry "Box" Brown!

This book is really really good I think that this man is so cool because he sat in a tiny tiny box for 24 hours what if he had to use the batheroom. I could not do that really I could not do that for 24 hours I would DIE in that BOX.
His name is Henry box brown.

I love this book because in this story he had to work so hard to get little money. And he's master died so then he got married with a woman and had a lot of kids but they were so poor. The next day his wife and kids were Gone!!!!!!
so he mailed him self to calmaney it took 24hours for him to get to calfarney then 4 men open the box. But he never got to see his wife or his kids again. So this feeling is corge because he got to calmaney that's why.

It's so weird because time goes by so fast and now we have no segregation and we think that segregation is weird but that is how it was back then!
