Henry's Freedom Box

This week we read the story of Henry's Freedom Box by Ellen Levine.  The students were fascinated by this true story so we went further with our curiousity and looked up the dimensions of the box and then "built" it.  (What a great way to introduce our math unit on area and perimeter : o )  Be sure to ask your child what they know about the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman aka "Minty" and Henry "Box" Brown!

Our Heritage...

We have been learning about immigration in Social Studies. The students did some research into where their families originated and then decorated a clothespin to represent their country. It was so much fun to learn about our family history!
