3rd Grade Benchmark Testing

Students will be taking the math benchmark test  Tuesday, March 6 and the reading benchmark test Wednesday, March 7. These are important tests that are very similar to the nine weeks tests that students have taken already this year. The content on this test includes all the skills that third graders should have mastery of by the end of the year.

These two days are a great opportunity for a dress rehearsal for the days when the students take the STAAR test. Here are some helpful things you can do at home on testing days.
  • Talk to your child about the test the night before. What strategies have they learned? How do they feel about the test? Try to allay their fears and build up their confidence. Encourage them to visualize doing their best and being successful.
  • Help your child get a good night's sleep before the test by going to bed on time and at a reasonable hour.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast each morning.
  • The morning of the test, keep the conversation light. Encourage your child to do their best and have a great day.
  • Get your child to school on time on testing days. Students who arrive at 8:15 or later begin their day in a rush and spend the rest of the morning trying to catch up. I encourage you to try to avoid being tardy on these days.
